What kind of experience have you had with home health care?

I recently finished my CNA certification. I am considering doing Home Health Aid as a part time job until I can get something permanent with benefits. I am also working on becoming an RN.

I am more familiar with working in a doctors office. I was an MA for a while…but now I am a student. Also if you are in the ATL metro area what are some good agencies to work for?

Is Home Health Care a good job? What does it mean when they pay per diem?

Most agency’s require that you to do some housework in addition to the medical service for the client. The clients are asked to interview several candidates to limit personality clashes. You will have the same opportunity to refuse to work for someone that is rude, abusive or uncooperative with your care for them. Be very careful to maintain a professional relationship. Most of these patients are along in age and can be quite paranoid, and complaints of “treasures” and or money missing can be quite common. The job is not a daunting as one might think. You visit for a determined period of time with duties agreed upon before hand. 90% of the job is personal interaction.

Per Diem is a set amount of money that you are allowed “per day” for meals, lodging, car rental or personal items.
